Ending After Ending

Graduation is often framed as a conclusion, yet it is never a final chapter. With ‘Ending After Ending’, we reflect on the nature of transitions and how each work we create is never truly final. Every piece contains both an ending and the seed of what comes next – another question, another experiment, another inspiration. In this way, our practices unfold through a chain of endings, each transforming into a beginning. Over the past two years, this postgraduate programme has reshaped not only our practices but also ourselves. We leave with more than artworks; we carry the
conversations and communities that have sustained us. The completion of this degree marks not an arrival, but an opening into uncertain yet generative paths.

‘Ending After Ending’ is the 2026 MAFA Graduation Exhibition of the Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is not a conclusion, but a commitment to continue creating, exploring and reimagining, to honour the transformations of these years and to carry them into futures not yet written.
