Leaving a Light Aglow
Before founding New Asia College, Dr. Ch’ien Mu contributed an article to magazine. For him, this act was not merely to publish academic insights, but also to gauge the editor’s integrity—aNirming that the pursuit of knowledge is inseparable from the cultivation of character. In Wang Wei’s verse, “Fruits fall in the rain; insects sing beneath a lamp,” the lamp illuminates the liveliness of all things. Yan Zhenqing wrote of “[studying by] the lamplight at the third watch [of the night],” evoking a light that illuminates the path of diligence.
These past two years, we too have traced our way with brush and ink under such light. Lights may diNer, yet each shines with perseverance. What light have we been kindled by? What light shall we leave behind? We warmly invite you to our graduation exhibition, to witness the glow of these twenty-two M.A.F.A. Chinese Art stream students.
